The Postpartum Fitness Checklist – ten things to do BEFORE you try to lose pregnancy weight

Clearly if you gain less weight during pregnancy you have less to lose later so reducing the gain is important. But, did you know that LESS THAN HALF of doctors talk to their pregnant patients about weight gain? Crazy right?? With so many women dealing with obesity and weight only a minority of docs bring it up. Why this is even more alarming is that pregnant patients who have more conversations with their doctors about weight gain end up gaining less weight!!

Treadmill running workout plan for weight loss

he basic idea is to use an interval running strategy that alternates short bursts of high cardio running (tough pace, incline) with slower periods (slower pace, no incline). Studies have shown interval training can boost your metabolism and cardiovascular capacity, AND this has the added benefit of allowing greater efficiency (workout is shorter, but you’re burning more energy then if you were running a steady pace).

A Beautiful Baby Boy Arrives…weight still here

As I mentioned in my earlier update, we welcomed a new baby boy in March.  Sure, I might be a little biased but he is pretty much perfect.  Already full of smiles and playing games…I think he’s going to be a runner.  One thing that has also stuck around (after 6 weeks) is some of the pregnancy weight.  That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop trying to shed it.

Running after baby, after baby, after baby – our newest addition arrives!

After a pseudo-false alarm and a second fast drive to the hospital, we made it to the delivery room just in time to welcome our third child (a BOY) into the world!  His big sisters are incredibly proud of their new baby brother and excited to teach him all about ballet, princesses and Disney shows….and I’m sure he’ll be excited to learn.  As we’re all settling in and getting adjusted to each other posts will be a little more sporadic in the following weeks, but can’t wait to share our adventures as I resume my quest to regain that pre-pregnancy body and lose my pregnancy weight from the third pregnancy!

Make it a great day!!

Ten Things to Do BEFORE You Try to Lose Pregnancy Weight – Part 1

Did you know that 50-70% of women gain too much weight during pregnancy and on average retain 40% of that weight one year later. After going through three pregnancies myself, I frequently thought worried about my weight (and dreaded those weekly weigh-in’s during the last month). If I could go back in time to the start of my very first pregnancy, there are some simple steps I wish I WOULD HAVE TAKEN to get a better grasp on what to expect, how to prepare and when to be concerned.  Many other moms (new and veterans) have expressed similar feelings.  With that in mind, let’s focus on what you can do before the baby arrives to set yourself up for post-pregnancy weight loss success.

This is only good through Sunday, 12/9 so no more procrastinating.  Discount is good either online OR in the store.
